Notification of the intention to obtain and dedicate a Banner should be given by the chapter at least 12 months in advance to The Provincial Grand Scribe E.

The proposed banner design should be sent to The Province at least 9 months in advance. For complex designs, especially those involving heraldic designs (where more complex rules apply), it is prudent to allow significantly more than 9 months. Province will submit the design to SGC for their formal approval and, when appropriate, that of the College of Heralds. Banners should not be made until after the design has been approved by SGC.

There is a beautiful ceremony of Banner Dedication that you can consider having in your Chapter. The Grand Superintendent would be delighted to be the guest of honour, and he will bring a team to include a Chaplain to give a formal Oration and the Dedication Prayers. This ceremony has on occasion been done after the formal Masonic meeting so as to include Ladies and non-Masonic gentlemen, and then followed by a White Table.

Province will be on hand to give advice as to protocol and procedure
