Any companion who is honoured with being appointed and installed as 3rd Principal is entitled to be called an Excellent Companion, and this term does not change either through or past all the chairs. The three Principals are jointly and severally liable for the smooth running of their Chapter.
Their dress emphasizes the equality with which all the Companions are treated, as is underlined by the fact that no salutes are given when addressing another Companion.
