Dave Lillis May 2016

David (Dave) was born and educated in Chatham Kent, after graduation from university in London and completion of an apprenticeship with the Central Electricity Generating Board he subsequently worked for the electricity supply industry in its various guises for 42 years before retiring in 2013. He is married to Sally, they have twin children both of whom work in London, a daughter who is a production manger for a fashion house and a son who is a software consultant.

It was Sally’s father who was responsible for his Masonic introduction as his proposer into St Nicholas Lodge (East Kent) in 1984 where he went on to become WM in 1992. Work commitments prompted a family move to Suffolk in 1989 where he became an active member of the Lodge of Fidelity, becoming its WM in 1995 and 1998. He was appointed Provincial Grand Steward in 1996 and was the Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2009

David’s Royal Arch career began with his exaltation into Gundulph Chapter (East Kent) in 1988 and continued in Suffolk when he joined Henniker in 1991, becoming its MEZ in 1998. He was appointed Provincial Grand Steward in 2000, and served as Provincial DGDC in 2011/12. He is currently MEZ of Suffolk Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter.

David’s enthusiasm and commitment to masonry is evidenced by the fact that he has held an office in either Lodge or Chapter continuously since he was initiated. With respect his recent appointment he said “I suspected that I might be asked to do something when I received a surprise home visit from the Grand Superintendent on New Years Day. But it was a great surprise and honour to be offered that of Provincial Third Grand Principal, a role that I accepted with pleasure and look forward to discharging with fervour ”
